The Allen-Bradley 1797-IBN16 is a NAMUR certified module. This module is is rated for Class I, II, and III / Div 1, Zone 1 and 22 application areas, allowing mounting of the module and associated components in hazardous locations. This module features single group of Sixteen (16) non-isolated, sinking input channels. Each input type is NAMUR compatible and Intrinsic Safety (IS) type of Ex ia IIB/IIC T4, AEx ia IIC T4, Class I, II, III Division 1 Group A-G T4and Intrinsic Safety (IS) module type of Ex ib IIB/IIC T4, AEx ib IIC T4, Class I, Division 1 Group A-D T4. Each channel exhibits an input delay time of 1 ms, 2 ms, 3 ms, 5 ms, 9 ms, 17 ms, 33 ms for OFF to ON transitions and 1 ms, 2 ms, 3 ms, 5 ms, 9 ms, 17 ms, 33 ms for ON to OFF transitions with default setting of 1 ms. This module is built with status indicator to aid in monitoring and troubleshooting of the module. These indicators are Sixteen (16) yellow status indicators and Sixteen (16) red fault indicators, One (1) LED indicator per channel, and One (1) green module power indicator for indication of power supply input to the module. This module is not compatible with standard Flex I/O terminal bases. It is mounted directly to a terminal base that is equally rated with the module, with compatible catalog numbers of 1797-TB3 or 1797-TB3S T. Recommended wire size when making wired connection to the module is 4 mm2 (12 gauge) stranded wire with maximum insulation rating of 1.2 mm (3/64 in.). It draws 2.1 mA ON state current from the backplane and OFF state leakage current of 1.2 mA, 9.5 Volt DC voltage rating, and it has selectable input delay time between 1 to 33 milliseconds. The 1797-IBN16 has a maximum input frequency of 1000 Hertz, with maximum input pulse width of 500 Ohms in ON or OFF state. The 1797-IBN16 is installed on the recommended 1797-TB3 or 1797-TB3S intrinsically safe terminal base units, and it uses 4-millimeter square (12 gauge) stranded conductor wire size with 1.2 millimeters (0.0472 inches) maximum insulation. It has a maximum power dissipation of 2.8 Watts, with a thermal equivalent of 9.6 BTU/hour and it has an acceptable operating temperature range of -20 to 70 degree Celsius (-4 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit) with a storage range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit).
