The GE IC687BEM731-AB Genius Bus Controller is a bus interface module that is used to connect a Series 90-70 or PACSystems RX7i programmable logic controller (PLC) to a Genius bus network. The Genius bus is a high-speed, peer-to-peer network that can be used to connect up to 31 devices.

The IC687BEM731-AB is a single-slot module that occupies one slot in a PLC backplane. It has a DB-9 connector for connecting to the Genius bus and a RJ-45 connector for connecting to a programming device. The IC687BEM731-AB is powered by the PLC backplane and does not require an external power supply.
The IC687BEM731-AB is configured using the Machine Edition Logic Developer 5.0 software with the second service pack or later. The software can be used to configure the IC687BEM731-AB for a variety of applications, including:
